UNIQUE CULTURAL INITIATIVE - UNIQA SEE FUTURE Foundation & THE NOMAD AND NOMARTS PLATFORMS
The UNIQA SEE FUTURE Foundation, in collaboration with the artistic collectives Nomad from Zagreb and Nomarts from Vienna, is launching an innovative project called the "Mentorship Initiative." This program is designed to support young artists, particularly female artists from Southeast and Eastern Europe. The initiative includes a year-long mentorship between established artists and selected young talents, culminating in an exhibition at a relevant exhibition space and an artistic intervention in public space.
The first mentor for the project is Šejla Kamerić, a renowned Bosnian-Herzegovinian artist known for her emotionally charged and politically engaged works. Kamerić has exhibited in prestigious institutions such as Tate Modern in London, Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Contemporary Art Ars Aevi in Sarajevo, the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest, and the Venice Biennale, setting high standards in contemporary art. Her work often explores themes of identity, memory, and social justice, making her an ideal mentor for this initiative.
The project manager of the "Mentorship Initiative" is Vanja Žanko, a well-known cultural manager who has collaborated with numerous reputable institutions such as Tate Modern in London, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Dubrovnik, and the Venice Biennale. Her career also includes close collaboration with renowned artists such as Jasmina Cibic, Olafur Eliasson, TARWUK, and Zlatan Vehabović, where she has played a key role in organizing exhibitions and artistic projects around the world. The new project led by Vanja Žanko is a result of the collaboration between the UNIQA SEE Future Foundation and the artistic collectives Nomad and Nomarts, aiming to transfer knowledge, promote creativity, and foster cultural understanding, which is needed now more than ever.
Nomad, a platform dedicated to building collections, raising funds, managing orders, and producing art exhibitions and books based in Zagreb, connects artists and cultural institutions to promote contemporary art and cultural exchange. The team includes Jelena Tamindžija Donnart, Ana Petričić Gojanović, Daria Darmaniyan, Dora Zane, and Vanja Žanko, who, together with Michael Isak and advisors Tevž Logar and Gareth Fletcher, also leads the Nomarts collective based in Vienna, focused on integrating art into corporate environments and consulting philanthropic foundations. Both collectives are committed to promoting cultural capital through international exhibitions and projects.
